Young People
Young People’s team objective is to engage with the young people of Farnham and surrounding areas up to 18 years of age, through schools, colleges and other local organisations. Through our various projects and events, the team aims to give young people the chance to grow, lead, develop new skills, create friendships and mainly to have fun.
Child Sight
Vision screening is a key part of early detection of eyesight problems. With children it helps ensure they can recieve effective treatment promptly to reduce the risk of loss of sight, completely or partially. Lion Stu Young, vision screening lead,launched Lions Child Sight UK vision screening project on 12th March 2024 at the Lions Day with the United Nations in the Palace of Westminster.
Schools Art Competition
For over three decades, Lions clubs around the globe have been sponsoring a very special art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.
Young People Team Working Guidelines
Young People’s team objective is to engage with the young people of Farnham and surrounding areas up to 18years of age, through schools, colleges and other local organisations. Through our various projects and events, the team aims to give young people the chance to grow, lead, develop new skills, create friendships and mainly to have fun.
These objectives can be achieved through;
Creative challenges such as art and literary competitions, and Lions ROAR.
Identifying those who go above and beyond in supporting their community, as part of the Lions Young Ambassadors initiative,
Developing ways to celebrate young people’s contribution to the community and culture,
Providing young carers with opportunities to unwind from their regular routines,
Regular dialogue with SEND schools,
Working closely with the Communities team to identify young people and their families that could do with a little extra help,
Liaising with FTC, youth groups and sports organisations and clubs,
Championing the Lions’ UK Child Sight project in providing free eye scans for Farnham’s Primary schools,
Identifying and developing new initiatives.
The Young People team will request any funding for these projects through the club on a project to project basis, having created an annual forecast and individual project budgets.
The team need to provide regular content on events and projects for the Marketing team to maximise the PR opportunities on social media and the website.
