Cider and Sausage Festival success

This year’s Lions Cider and Sausage Festival was held at Farnham’s Gostrey Meadow on Saturday August 15th, 2026.

Back after a one year absence in its former two session format, Cider & Sausage was a success. The vast majority were very positive about their experience. In addition to Jake’s Circus, who entertained the children in the afternoon with his interactive show, Lions made a decision to use local talent as far as possible. Hence the Young Talent section, with performances from 14-17 year olds and the local Irish dance school with its 6-15 year olds. The bands were also local, offering their time for free including our headline act, Kit Trigg, who broke off his current UK tour to support Farnham Lions.

The football and rugby competitions were very successful, won by Ernest and Theo (see below).

We were very grateful for Mayor Graham White and Mayoress Judy White who entered the Sausage competition and voted for their favourite sausage.

This year’s well-deserved winner of Sausage of the Festival award goes to Farnham Family Butchers, with hardly a vote splitting the other three contenders.

Lions President Jane Langton said:

” A huge thank you to Morgans, Hand’s of Rowledge, A Turner & Sons and Farnham Family Butchers, the 4 brilliant local butchers who took up the challenge and entered our Sausage of the Festival competition.

Thank you for taking part, generously donating your best sausages and helping to make the competition such a success.”
