New benches at Farnham Hospital

Four new benches have recently been delivered to the gardens of Farnham Hospital thanks to Farnham Lions Legacy Team.  The benches are made of a composite that is weatherproof and will not need annual maintenance.

One has been sited in the external garden and is available for all staff, patients and visitors.  The other three are located in the internal courtyard of the Elderly Rehabilitation wards.

As well as providing an informal seating area for staff and patients,  the team of Occupational Therapists plan to use the benches for their seated aerobics and personal therapy work.  The therapists reported that the patients love to have the chance to go outside and take the opportunity for an outdoor workout whenever possible !

The existing benches in the courtyard have neither backs nor arms so are not suitable for the patients to use safely which had meant the courtyard could not be used as much. The new benches will provide many more reasons to go outside.

"It's wonderful that we were able to help in such a practical way and we know that these benches will be a valuable asset to staff and patients alike" reported Deborah who liaised with Farnham Hospital throughout the project.
