Easter Eggstravaganza
The 2017 Easter Eggstravaganza is now complete, and a total of £6,598 was raised in our area.
The Easter Eggstavaganza was launched back in February 2017 at Frensham Garden Centre who have supported us regularly over the years with this project. The launch this year was hosted by Brian Phillips, Manager of Frensham Garden Centre and was attended by John Ward, Mayor of Farnham and Gillian Ward his wife, as well as Richie Elmer of Weyfest who has sponsored the Eggstravaganza again this year. We are most grateful to all those who helped last year and this in this annual event..... and I am delighted to say that we had close on 100 giant eggs around and about in Farnham. Adding this years donation to the prior years Farnham total it means the good people of Farnham and visitors to our town have raised well over £70,000 so far for the Air Ambulance. Please do continue to support us as every penny raised in Easter Eggstravaganza goes to keep the Air Ambulance where it should be - flying and providing its life saving service to all who are in or who visit our wonderful area: and now it flies 24/7 through the night as well, carries blood and plasma and is one of the most advanced services in the country - Thanks to all of you.... And thanks to our fellow Lions clubs across the South East we have raised £250,000 for the Air Ambulance in half the agreed time to fund the night flying equipment. Fantastic effort and service that we are delighted to support.

Local Lions Clubs join Farnham Club and friends to present another year's donation |
In 2007 we initiated a new venture, inspired and driven by one of our then newer members, Keith Harris. The project was named "Easter Eggstravaganza". This involves supplying large, high quality, Easter Eggs, each with a fluffy lion, a collecting box and a 100 choice name board into local pubs, hotels, hospitals, surgeries, etc. The idea is that the public donate £1 to choose a name for the lion from the board. When the board is full, a draw is held and the lucky winner takes the egg and the lion, and we raise around £80 from each egg, that is all donated to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.
In the inaugural year we raised over £6000 for Surrey Air Ambulance from this activity.
In 2008, we co-opted some of our neighbouring Lions Clubs into the scheme and raised over £18,000.
In 2009, with continued efforts, the Clubs raised over £19,000 with Farnham alone contributing £7,900!
In 2010 and 2011 - very similar donations were made.
- The headquarters of the Surrey Air Ambulance at Redhill has placed a plaque in their building to recognise the £60,000 milestone which we passed in 2010.
In 2012 our donation was a fantastic £22,147 bringing our total donation to in excess of £100,000!
- In 2013 Farnham Lions donation was £6517
- 2014 Farnham Lions donation was £6900
- 2015 saw another £6,100 plus for Farnham... the total just keeps on growing
- 2016, yes you guessed - yet another £6000+ from Farnham residents and visitors was donated to KSSAA
- 2017 - £6,598 raised by Farnham residents and donated to KSSAA!
