CHIKS INDIAN SPECTACULAR FOR A NEW MEDICAL CENTRE

Avoiding unnecessary new-build costs a group of buildings were earmarked to convert into a medical centre - providing an examination room, manned by a full-time nurse with a doctor appearing when required, a laboratory, doctor's room, pharmacy with pharmacist and a small ward with four medical beds.  The centre was opened on 9th February 2016 and was fully-furnish as  we've also provided a range of equipment for examination and treatment and the centre is now fully operational after the opening.  "We are indebted to the Farnham and Frankenberg Lions Clubs for making this wonderful and long-awaited addition to our Little Flower Home a reality," Robin Radley, the President of Chiks told the crowd, who included our doctor, parish priest and nursing sisters amongst a throng of other locals and residents of the home.  Robin officially opened the centre by unveiling the plaque on behalf of both Farnham and Frankenberg, our twin club.

So how was it done:

We invited you to join us at the Farnham Lions Indian Spectacular on Saturday 16th May 2015.

Its not every event one ever attends that lives up to expectations but judging from the deluge of emails with thanks and congratulations we have already received, this one surely did.

It was a total sell out with the maximum of 400 guests and the target of raising £10,000 on the day is a distant memory. All the numbers are were put together and the final total once all monies were in - was close to £25,000 including a last minute collection for the Nepalese earthquake disaster that happened the week before.

Farnham Lions provided their guests a true Indian Spectacular including a sumptuous Indian banquet prepared by Malini Kakkar and her team and spectacular displays from The Bollywood Dance Company  accompanied by the Rhythm & Bass Dohl Drummers, Ravi - a fantastic sitar player and Mr Steve came to wiz our guest around in his tuk tuk. The event was held locally at a private motor museum in Churt that has to be seen to be believed, and our real thanks go to Robert & Tanya Lewis for their very generous hospitality and for making the event possible.  So in addition to the spectacular banquet and entertainment all guests had access to the private motor museum to wander around and inspect motoring history. The sun shone, the bar was busy, the banquet was fantastic, and then the auction, raffle and silent auction delivered far beyond our wildest dreams.... delivering the total beyond our wildest expectation.

In the meantime just a few pictures to whet your appetite for the next one!

Farnham Lions work primarily to support and serve our local community but this event was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our twinning with the Lions Club of Frankenberg, Germany. Both clubs undertook to fund this exciting joint international project and every single penny raised on the day went to fund a new medical centre at Little Flower Mercy Home. (pictured above)
